Dedication and blessing of a child
When children of any age are welcomed into our church family, we have a Service of Dedication. During the service, the parents thank God for the gift of their child, and promise to bring their child up in the knowledge and love of Christ. The whole congregation joins them in that promise, to help and support wherever they are able. Some parents also choose to nominate Supporters (similar to Godparents), to take a leading role in supporting the child in their journey of faith.

As your child is nurtured in their faith and grows towards adulthood, we support them in their journey towards Believers Baptism.

Our Minister, Mark minister@dsbc.org.uk  is always happy to meet with anyone informally who would like to know more. We would love to open our doors as you consider this important occasion for your child.

Weddings
A wedding is one of life’s great moments, a solemn and joyful celebration of enduring commitment to one another, ensuring the couple of God’s blessing as they enter into the state of marriage.
In Dagnall Street’s long history, we have witnessed so many couples committing to love and support one another throughout their lives, in good times and in bad.

No doubt you are hoping to make this day one of the most memorable of your lives and we are here to support you as you make your preparations. The Minister, supported by our Church Members will look after you and discuss all legal requirements, as well as logistics surrounding the service itself. Dagnall Street is legally licensed to perform Christian Services of Marriage. As a Baptist Church, all couples are welcome to enquire (there are no requirements for specific eligibility or specific connection to the church). Banns or Special Licences are also not required (these only concern marriages taking place in the Church of England).

We are an inclusive church and our Minister, Mark minister@dsbc.org.uk  is always happy to meet with any couple considering Marriage or a Blessing following a Civil Marriage. We also warmly invite married couples who wish to renew their vows, perhaps for a special anniversary to contact us too.

Funerals and Memorials
Anyone’s funeral or memorial service can take place at Dagnall Street. Please do contact us directly or ask your Funeral Director to get in touch with our Minister, Mark. If you would prefer your loved ones funeral
to take place at the Crematorium or Cemetery, we can also support you and Mark is happy to conduct funerals there, if this is felt more appropriate.

The church is open for prayer and reflection during our Cross Street opening hours and we have a prayer corner in our link room. Our staff and volunteers will be happy to direct you and provide someone to talk to if you wish.

Our Minister, Mark minister@dsbc.org.uk  is always happy to meet with those who would value support during difficult times.

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at the Church Building (details here) for our Sunday Service starting at 10:30am. For your first visit, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to ensure you find somewhere to park, and find somewhere to sit before the service begins. When you arrive, you should be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team who will be wearing a Welcome lanyard.

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access, and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the Welcome Team know on your arrival and they will help you to get set up. There are disabled toilets and a lift.

Our Service

The main service begins at 10:30am with a warm welcome from one of our team members. Then follows a time of songs and hymns, prayers, Bible reading and a sermon. Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month. Sometimes there is an opportunity to receive prayer at the end of the service.

After the service we serve tea, coffee, squash and biscuits in the Cross Street Centre. It is a great way to meet people, or simply take time to find your bearings. All refreshments are free.
What about my kids?

We have a great programme lined up for kids of all ages:

  • Creche (0 months to 3 years). Children under 6 months are welcome but must be accompanied by their parent/grown-up at all times.
  • Junior Church (4-11 years)

Children stay with their parent or grown-up for the first part of the service. They then go to their groups. The children's group activities vary depending on the age but usually there is a friendly welcome, bible stories, praying, music, craft, drama, fun games and free play. Please pick your children up as soon as the service finishes.
